Below are ethical declarations authors are required to consider and disclose to the journal when submitting manuscript:
Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who made a substantive contribution to the work. All listed authors must have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
Conflicts of interest: Contributors must disclose any instance of potential personal financial or non-financial interest relevant to the research, writing, or publication of the submitted work.
● Financial interests include but are not limited to patents, stock ownership, consultancy work, board membership and expert witness testimony.
● Non-financial interests include all of the above interests, even if unremunerated, as well as membership in lobbying, advocacy or commercial organizations, advising relationships, personal relationships, or writing and editing work.
Funding Statement: Contributors must disclose all direct and indirect funding sources (monetary or in-kind) for their submitted work.
● Direct sources include but are not limited to employers, donors, contractors, or grant providers.
● Indirect sources include any person or organization whose financial or non-financial relationship with the contributor could be perceived as influencing the submitted work, including the provision of resources, data cleaning or data analysis, supply of research personnel or lab equipment.
Plagiarism: Submissions must represent original work. Authors must not submit work that has been published elsewhere or is under review at another journal, and must properly attribute all sources.
Retractions and corrections: If a significant error in a published article is discovered, authors are expected to notify the editors promptly. The journal will issue corrections or retractions as appropriate.
Research ethics for human subjects: Where research involves human participants, authors must confirm that the study received approval or exemption from an appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or equivalent body, that participants provided informed consent, and that published data protects participant anonymity unless explicit consent for identification was obtained.
Sanctions: Confirmed violations of these policies may result in rejection of the manuscript, notification of the authors' institutions, or retraction of published work.
Use of Artifical Intelligence: The journal generally prohibits the use of AI-generated text and citations in articles, and the use of AI-generated code for analysis. We can make exceptions when the article is about generative AI. In these cases, the use of AI must be disclosed. When in doubt, authors should disclose the use of AI.
